Sharon Goodman, B.Sc., B.Ed., MSLP

I have been practicing as a speech therapist since September 1983. I also have my certification as an elementary and middle school teacher, (since 2002) and have 21 years of experience in that role.

I have maintained a private practice throughout most of my career, sometimes as my sole job, and other times, as a side job while I was employed elsewhere. I was first introduced to the area of orofacial myofunctional disorders in 2004, and since then, most of my services have shifted to meeting the needs of individuals with OMDs. In 2021, I began connecting with local dental professionals to begin providing services for pre- and post-care following the release of tethered oral tissues. I now practice full-time, and I also provide mentorship for other myofunctional therapists and speech therapists who are interested in working in this area.

In addition to treating myofunctional disorders, I also understand them on a personal level. Upon completing my formalized training in Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders, I discovered that my daughters and my husband were all tongue-tied!  The lack of services in my own city propelled me into a quest for learning and a drive to create the services that were so badly needed by my family. In my family, we have had to deal with speech difficulties, chewing and swallowing problems, and also the longer-term effects such as TMJ problems, neck and shoulder pain, and sleep apnea. I have seen tremendous change and improvement in my family members, and am grateful I can help others experience similar outcomes.

If you are inquiring about therapy, please be aware that I sometimes have a waitlist. We can still connect to discuss your concerns, and I may make a recommendation to seek support from other professionals before starting myofunctional therapy.

Fees for speech therapy and myofunctional therapy services are generally $140 per hour. This includes assessment and therapy sessions. Reports are available upon request, and pricing will depend on the type of report required.

Direct billing to insurance companies is not currently available. All invoices are due and payable immediately following the session. Where there are extended health benefits available, clients may submit receipts to their insurance company on their own. All necessary credentials and certification numbers required by your insurance company are included on invoices and receipts.
